Book Review: Shut Up and Sing

Shut Up and Sing: How Elites from Hollywood, Politics, and the UN are Subverting America by Laura Ingraham, Regnery Publishing, Washington D.C., 2003.
I read this originally in 2004.  At that time I said "Very good exploration of how the elite are  not necessarily in touch with people.  They are not any better than others outside their own particular fields--although they often think they are."  I think Ingraham's message is perhaps more important today when those who support our current president, or support that America is great, or any other ideas considered naive or ignorant or misguided.  It is enough to make you sick.
Of course Laura Ingraham is now on Fox News.  She was a radio host when she wrote this book. 

The Modern Day Witch Hunt

Just finished reading "The Crucible."  Man that was a time when you were damned if you do and damned if you don't.  Your choice was to commit a sin, lie and say you were influenced by the Devil; or deny any such association and be hung because you were unrepentant.  As to whether or not you were under the influence of the Devil was not doubted.  Authorities had already made up their mind.
I see this same attitude in several movements today.  One is the media, which is determined Trump is bad, and he is damned no matter what he says.  They have gone so far as to manipulate lighting in pictures, make up stories, and dwell on things which make no sense.  If you talked to anyone form Russia, then you are guilty of collusion, done deal.
The other place I see this is with the Black Lives Matters group.  If you say all lives matter, then you  are racist.  Things are just weird.

Nancy Pelosi Rankled me this Week

On Holy Thursday, the same day the Pope washed the feet of several people with disabilities, Nancy Pelosi made an attempt to gain political points by washing the feet of two children to highlight the point of the need for a pathway to citizenship for those who have come to our country illegally.
In my mind, I find Pelosi's actions very objectionable.  It is degrading to the Catholic Church for the Pope to be mimicked in this way.  As a Christian I find it disgusting that she would make a mockery of our Lord to try to score some political points.  I don't think this has helped her cause.  Just my thoughts on this poor attempt to hijack Easter.

My Thoughts on Wikileaks

 I posted this originally Dec 2010 but thought it needed to be in my thoughts blog.
I think we have entered the world of cyber terrorism.  WikiLeaks and Julian Assange are hurting our country, and putting those who work for our government at risk.  This started with the release of confidential and secret documents.  That these documents would have been carried by any news outlet under the guise of news is appalling.  Sometimes people need to think before they act.  Do you take out everyone's appendix under the guise of medicine?

This terrorism entered a 2nd stage of blackmail earlier this week.  (If you do anything to me I will release more documents.)  It has now entered a third stage of cyber attacks.  The WikiLeaks organization is attacking anyone who is critical of them, or opposes them.  They are thwarting free speech, under the presumption that what they are doing is free speech.

The actions of this group have put many more people than Valerie Plame in the cross hairs of terrorists.  Islamic terrorist (excuse me President Obama) are seeking destroy our county.  They are seeking daily to maim and cripple our interests.  In Julian Assange they have found an ally.  He has been arrested for sex crimes.  Where is the arrest for his crimes against the United States?

Just my opinion on today's news.  The Obama administration has got to be focused on stopping this attack.

Obama and the Middle Class: I Delve into Political Thoughts

I don't write political issues on my family blog, but this is my thoughts blog, and few people see it anyway so here goes.

I am perturbed by notion that the Democrats are the party of the middle class, when it appears to me the opposite is true.  Jose Hernandez, who is running under the Democrat ticket for congress said in his ads vote for me and stop the Republican attack on the middle class.  Class warfare is silly, but it seams to me the opposite is true: Vote Republican and stop the Democrat attack on the middle class.  Obama has not been a good president for the middle class.  Let me give some examples.

1) Obama Care is a tax on the middle class.  It is a drain on the economy, and effects all.  You may say, not everyone has to pay the tax, only those who don't have insurance.  Take my situation.  My employer pays for insurance.  However the cost of insurance has gone up with new regulations.  My employer passes this on to me in the form of no cost-of-living increases and forced furlough hours.  It is hard for a Union to negotiate when they start in the whole because of the increase in insurance costs.
 Also Obama Care drains the economy, as the cost of employing someone goes up.  Small businesses, especially, are wary of hiring, and highers unemployment effects us all.  So under Obama Care it is nice my children are covered to age 26.  However since young people have the highest unemployment as a result of this economy, partially due to the new taxes of Obama Care, they are more dependent on this as finding jobs with insurance becomes harder and harder.  It is a catch 22.

2) Environmental policies under Obama have added regulation, slowed down energy production, and effected us all.  When Obama took office, they decided to review drilling permits issued in the last year, to make sure the Bush administration had done it right I guess.  This put energy production behind a year; adding expense to process.  He then put a  moratorium on drilling the the gulf.  Obama never admitted it, but his decisions had an effect an doubled the price of gas.  Now, I am one family, middle class.  Calculating quickly, his energy policy has cost us about $5000 a year.  We have two vehicles and fill them about a week.  Thanks Obama.

3) Obama's crippling debt increase--$ 5 trillion and counting will effect the middle class for years to come.  Our children's children's children, as Hook says, will be paying of this debt.  Obama tries to blame it on Bush, but we are not stupid.  Most of the increase from the first year was Obama's Stimulus.  Why he tries to blame this on Bush is beyond me.

4) While developing alternative form of energy is noble, throwing money to political donors for crock pot ideas is disturbing.  Algae will not be made into fuel without a process that takes more energy than it produces.  Solyndra is crazy.  How many Solyndras are out there?  At least the executives got their bonuses to donate money to Obama's campaigne.

Mitt Romney Plods on Toward the Nomination

In the media there is plenty of talk about how the Republican side is divided, and the outcome is still unsure.  But, if you look at things the way I do, Mitt Romney is plodding towards the nomination.  He has garnered close to 55 percent of the available delegates.  He has 150 more delegates than Santorum, and more than the entire rest of the field combined.  As he moves along, more and more of the super delegates will also support him.  He has won 17 of the 27 contests so far.  That is over 60 percent.
Today, though he lost badly in Kansas, he did win three territorial contests.  It was about a draw in terms of delegates.
   While it is true, he has not convinced his opponents to fall in line, and accept what is happening, he is winning, and winning by a significant margin.  He has more than a million votes more than Santorum.  Santorum is trying to blame the difference on Gingrich.  But I think people just don't like Santorum, especially after he has appealed to democrats to vote for him to keep the race going, and also keeps trying to portray Romney as a liar.  This is not helping the party.  Santorum is Obama's best friend right now.  That is the only result of Santorum's desperate campaign.
   The map shows Santorum's success is limited to the midwest.  He does not appear to be a national candidate, but a regional one at best.  Romney has won in the South, West and Northeast.    We shall see, but the result should be obvious even to Santorum in a couple of weeks, at least after the first Tuesday in April at the latest.  Then I hope we can start rallying behind our nominee.

Unsolicited Obama emails

I am getting tired of getting unsolicited Obama emails.  It seems they are always, "trying to set the record strait."  I can think for myself, and don't need you r emails to tell me what to think.  The emails were originally sent by "Jim Messina" and the subject was such you didn't know if it was from an Obama criticizer or supporter until you opened the email.  I have spammed his name, and no the same emails are coming from some other name.  It seems like a Hitleristic brain washing campaign.  I don't know how to get rid of them, so I guess I will just keep spamming them.  What does it take to get them know you are not interested in their slant--the economy and redistribution of wealth, and government obstruction of the energy industry, attacks on religion, support of abortion, etc. etc. speaks for it self. 

Letter-to-the-Editor, writen but never sent

This letter I wrote in 2007.  A time when I was frustrated with the political process, and how the liberal media was controlling the questions at the debates, in an effort to make the Republicans look bad.

It is time to say enough!

And so with that I begin to write my own words, so I can say "enough" in my own way.

AS I read of the CNN/You Tube catch a Republican with his pants down spectacle of last week, which they labeled a debate, and then see their justification. "It was the highest watched debate," my stomach boils.  But was it a  debate at all?  To allow the retired gay military officer to be anywhere near that stage was despicable.  Look at his question.  "Do you think our military is professional enough to work alongside gay soldiers?"  No the military is not professional, or the military is stupid and should change their policy.  They both make you say the military is stupid.  There is no middle ground.

And so it is not a question but a statement, from someone who is not running for office.  But we find the statement was representing the interest of Hillary Clinton, who of course had no knowledge of the individual's actions, hardy har har! 

Hillary Clinton has proven herself to be just as capable as Bill of embarassing our country.  She lies and distorts, and talks out of both sides of her mouth.  Can our country survive her in the White House, and a return to the politics of bribery, high crimes and misdemeanors?
