These two posts showed up in Facebook and decided to write about them. Charity worked really hard to earn her medallion. She had some good friends that encouraged her and she encouraged them. At the same time Mark had completed boot camp and basic training. He served six months in Iraq as a red tagger. He helped many people with their going home transportation. He went on one convoy trip, which put him at risk from IEDs. This was just before the end of U.S. forces in Iraq. Charlie is my brother whose son also served in Iraq, and Jenifer Schulken was our neighbor.

Charity receives her young woman medallion Sunday (August 2). Mark is home for the weekend, but that is bitter sweet as he leaves on my birthday, Tuesday, for Iraq.
