Fighting Elk Sculptures at Cabela's in Sydney, Nebraska

 The fighting elk sculptures were pretty cool.  There were two sculptures with four elk, a smaller version and a larger version.  They were poking each other with their antlers.

Nebraska Sculpture Project: Up/Over

 Up/Over by artist Linda Howard is at the Ogallala Rest Area.  When we passed the rest area was cosed but my Sheri managed to get a couple pictures as we passed on the freeway.  I like the way the strait beams form an arch. Sculpture Linda Howard, 

Nebraska Gateway Sculpture at the Brady Westbound Rest Area, I80 Nebraska

 Anthony Padavano created the Nebraska Gateway Sculpture.  To me it looks like two persons saying "hello."  It is meant to spark curiosity by using shapes to represent other things.

ten commissioned but two never completed.  Of the eight the wind destroyed one so seven are still available. 

This sculpture has moving parts which make it look like a bird.

Central Mall Artwork and Environ

 I ventured to Central Mall this weekend.  It is the oldest mall in Omaha.  I found the decor to be interesting with lots of prints and other artwork.  I found a Native American office call Big Elk.  There were lots of prints and a few other pieces.

Gift Crow at Heartland Park

I learned of a statue downtown I hadn't seen, so walked from Gene Leahy Park to check it out.  It is called "Gift Crow."  It is at the end of this page with a movie about the statue.  It is at the corner of 8th and Douglas.  It was completed by Renee' A. Ledesma of Mexican American heritage.
